What is a Farm-Share?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) provides a way for consumers to directly partner with local farmers. It’s a relationship that fosters stability for the farmer and in return guarantees the consumer a supply of fresh local produce at reasonable prices.

Consumers support the farm by purchasing shares of the harvest in advance of the season. In turn they receive a large supply of seasonal, fresh and nutritious food for their family, delivered on a weekly schedule. By making a financial commitment to the farm, consumers become “shareholders” of the farm and are invited to become deeply involved in the production of their food.

How does it work?

  • You Sign Up In Advance of the Growing Season.
  • We Grow a Season’s Worth of Bounty, Just for You.
  • Your Shares Are Delivered Weekly (or Bi-Weekly) Jun 15th – Nov 6th

What’s in a share?

Each 3/4 bushel share contains a wide variety of heirloom vegetables. The contents of the boxes varies greatly, each corresponding with the season and the readiness of the crops. We do our best to select a mix of old-favorites and new varieties that will please the whole family. If there’s something you don’t like, let us know and we’ll do our best not to include it.

Typical Mid-Summer Share: (Contents of shares varies greatly!)

  • 3 lbs Heirloom Tomatoes
  • 1 Qt. Cherry Tomatoes
  • 2-3 lbs Summer Squash
  • 3-4 Multi-Colored Bell Peppers
  • 1 Pint Jalapeno & Hot Peppers
  • 2 Pints Heirloom Snap Beans
  • 2-3 Italian Heirloom Eggplants
  • 1 Lg. Bunch of Basil & Herbs
  • 1 Lg. Bunch of Beets
  • 2-3 Ears Sweet Corn & More!

Veggie-Swap Program

To provide extra flexibility for our members, we’ve decide to institute a new program called “Veggie Swap”.

Shareholders will now be able to swap up to one item per week out of their CSA share in exchange for any item we have in stock at the Evanston Farmers Market (Sat, 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM).

What areas do you serve?

Our farm share (community supported agriculture) program serves the following areas:

  • Chicago (Home Delivery & Self Pick-Up)
  • Evanston (Home Delivery & Self Pick-Up)
  • Skokie (Home Delivery)

How do I get my veggies?

Shares are either delivered directly to your residence or can be picked up at one of several local drop-off locations in and around Chicago.

Home delivery is available in Evanston, Wilmette and Chicago and cost an additional $7/box. Deliveries are typically made between 2pm – 8pm Saturdays & Wednesdays (though we can’t always predict the exact time).

Interested in hosting a pick-up site?

Don’t see yourself on the list? Interested in hosting a pick-up site yourself?

Site hosts receive a 25% discount on their share and are responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly site, contacting members who have not picked up their share on pick-up days, and after a day are entitled to any shares not picked up.

Hosts are not required to be around during pick-up hours, but it can be a great opportunity to get to know your fellow CSA members! We will consider adding a new pickup site if it has at least 5 members. An easily accessed and air-conditioned or shaded area is required.
